The Adanauts is a project that was initiated by Lovelace Minting in the middle of 2021. Prior to the Adanaut collection, there were several promotional tokens released by Lovelace (detailed below) and there were also several AI airdrops that were sent to early adopters and supporters.
In September, 2021, the Lovelace Discord minted a series of CNFT Promotional Tokens - Astronaut (100 Pieces)
Shortly after the release of the promo 1 token, each delegator to the Lovelace Stake Pool received a delegator token, which is shown below (64 pieces). Moving in succession; for those individuals who owned the above Promo 1 Token, they were able to exclusively mint an AdaNaut Promo 2 token ( also shown below (444 pieces)).
Around the same time that the promo tokens were being minted and distributed, Brrrbon was commissioned by the team to begin crafting the clay art. He was approached after being recognized from fan art pieces he made in the vein of Clay Nation. For those pieces, traits and characteristics were solicited from his BSC friends in an attempt to get them involved in the NFT space and culture.
At the end of October of 2021, the idea of a Genesis token transitioned from a concept to a reality and by owning either a Promo 1 Token or a Delegator token AND a Promo 2 token people were able to mint components to complete a "Genesis Adanaut".
The revision was made but the organization of the migration was not executed properly and the number of Genesis Adanauts ended up exceeding the intended 200 items. This was an issue that needed resolved.
Shifting Planes
Divisions of labor and communication were not paramount at this time and members of the community were getting upset because of delays and limited communication. To pacify the supporters, the team released a number of prototype tokens, which were not entirely ready for minting. This became problematic when not all Genesis members received prototypes that had been committed. A remedy to this inequity needed to be found as well.
A disconnect arose between the project's vision of the art and the final concept as intended by the artist. Brrrbon did not want to compromise the quality of his work and there was a bit of a stalemate with the progression of the project. After internal discussions that resulted in a mutually beneficial compromise and separation, Brrrbon took control of the direction of the project in February of 2022.
Housekeeping First
Since there were issues that remained after the team divided and became refocused, as the new project lead, Brrrbon felt that outstanding issues needed to be remedied before moving forward with anything else. Resolutions were made for the items detailed above and further summarized below. First, the total number of Genesis Adanauts was originally planned to be capped at 200 members. At the time, there were 213 members that possessed the Genesis Adanauts as a result of the fragmented distribution of Genesis Tokens.
Secondly, only ~100 Prototypes were delivered to their intended targets and members who did not receive them were not pleased.
The last substantive issue that created inconsistency and incongruity was that there were some expectations that were given, regarding utility of the Lovelace tokens. Although Brrrbon did not promise the utility of these pieces, the community still expected there to be some. Without access to any of the policy IDs and or the royalty address, we needed to pivot.
The Genesis pieces were composed of five items. The goal was for participants to collect each piece and redeem them for a completed Genesis Adanaut. There were 1000 pieces in total equating to 200 Genesis Adanauts to be created. The release and distribution of these pieces created great camaraderie within the community and allowed members to trade with each other to complete their sets. Soon after the Genesis pieces mint, Genesis Adanauts were being formed. Below on the left is the first rendition, and to the right is the revised version.
